How to prevent “your ASIO sample rate has changed” prompt in Cubase?

Last updated: 2021/04/14

You’re working on your music project, and suddenly this prompt pops up, and all your music sounds like chipmunk or Zeus singing.

Do not work or save your project. Just close it and start over.

In the meantime, head to Cubase > Studio > Studio Setup > VST Audio System > Release Driver when Application is in Background (enable)

Then back in Windows, head to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound

Select your sound device > Properties (bottom right)

Head to Advanced tab, uncheck “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device”

Apply then restart your Computer.

That’s it!

How to fix “Your system finger print is not valid” message prompt on Cubase?

Last updated: 2021/04/14

When you install a new GPU or other hardware, you might get this message when starting Cubase.

“Your system finger print is not valid.”

“Soft-Eliceneser doesn’t have enough permissions to run properly. please run LCC to fix this problem.”

“Fixing relevant file permissions failed.”

To fix, simply:

Reinstall/download the eLicenser Installation Helper:

https://download.steinberg.net/downloads/elc-installation-helper.exe

https://helpcenter.steinberg.de/hc/en-us/articles/206632670-Soft-eLicenser-virtual-license-container-is-missing

https://www.steinberg.net/nc/en/support/knowledgebase_new/show_details/kb_show/soft-elicenser-is-missing.html

This should reset your software eLicenser.

If you had anything stored in a Soft-eLicenser instead of your hardware dongle, you’ll have to go to your MySteinberg to reactivate it.

How to fix Autotune 8 crashing on Windows 10 and Cubase 10?

20200706:

If you are using Cubase 10.5, considering upgrading to Auto Tune Pro 9.1.0 on Windows 10.

If you are using Cubase 10, consider upgrading to Auto Tunes 8.1.1 to work on Windows 10.

Otherwise, read on…

The best method is to load your Soundtoys > Microshift plugin first, before loading Autotune 8.

Otherwise, start Cubase 10 in Windows 8 Compatibility mode.

Why is my Cubase MIDI editor slow & sluggish in Windows 10 after I had XBOX Companion recording my Cubase screen?

Well that’s it, you need to hit the Windows + G key, then click the SETTINGS icon, and uncheck ‘Remember this is a game’.

Or else, XBOX Companion attempts to do its thing everytime you are doing music (prepare to record your screen).

How to drag and drop a .wav sample file into Kontakt in the new Cubase 9 or 10 onwards?

These issues are occuring because Cubase hides the Kontakt and similar plugin windows when you lose focus to you Mac or Windows explorer folder to start dragging your wav sample file.

So the trick is to drag the file into your Program Icon in Windows Taskbar, drag it up so Cubase comes into focus, before the plugin also shows up, then dragging the wav sample file into the plugin window.
