Equipment: Drobo drive upgrade and steps

To expand on this article. So today I decided to upgrade my drobo drive

  1. Make sure drobo is working fine
  2. Eject the harddrive to replace.
  3. Add the new harddrive in place.
  4. That’s it! Now just wait for the blinking lights to turn ALL GREEN.

The Drobo will work in the background to rebuild the data onto the new hard drive and you can continue to use the Drobo as you normally would until its done rebuilding!

  • Took out the 2TB WD20EZRX WD GREEN drive. To use it to backup Candlelight project and music video.
  • Replaced with new 3TB Seagate Barracuda ST3000DM007 with 3yr warranty.
  • Physical size of the new harddisk is smaller and stranger, did not fit into Drobo that well.
  • Took photos of the new and old HDD, and will upload to Google Drive or here.
